it's birthday week!...

Monday, January 5, 2009

...i'm glad you're here!...before we start though, would you go over and wish eileen a happy birthday today?...happy birthday, eileen!...

...i'm not overly-excited about my birthday on the 7th (because i'm not overly-excited about the whole aging process...how about you?), but i am excited about my blog's first birthday on the 10th!...

...who'd have thought when i started my blog that it would actually last a whole year?...but more than that...who'd have thought it would turn into something i enjoy so very much?...part of my every-single-day life now not only includes fiddling with my own blog, but going out and visiting all of the other blogs i love so much...in the last year?...i've learned, laughed, cried, discovered, confessed, shared, created and had such fun...but more than that?...i've made some truly wonderful friends......

...ask any psychotherapist and they'll tell you that internet relationships aren't 'real'...ask me and i will beg to differ...the comments, the emails and the encouragement i receive and strive to return, the 'real life' snail mail, phone calls and friendships that have resulted because of all this?...they are all very 'real' to me...so thank you from the bottom of my heart......

...in keeping with the whole friendship theme, i thought it would be fun for my giveaway prizes this week to be from some of my friends' etsy shops...because i think it's important that we all support each other plus i just love the stuff i've picked out......

...today's giveaway is from stephanie's (at loft creations) etsy shop...an adorable flannel pillowcase with elephants (because i love elephants!)...i have several of stephanie's flannel pillowcases and they're wonderful plus they only get all softer-feeling and better with washing...like a favorite quilt, no?...i truly consider stephanie one of my 'real life' friends...thank you, stephanie......:

...and the goodie i am throwing in with the pillowcase?...a little 2" x 9" x 1" handmade painted cream-colored wood sign (from connecting threads) that would look great in your sewing room...:

...so now for the rules...wait a minute!...rules, schmules!...there are no rules!......sure, i thought about specific time deadlines (but what about my friends in different time zones?...time zones confuse me...especially australia - i'll be 45 in australia sometime tomorrow and still only 44 here!)...and extra entries and such for mentioning me on your blog (though i would appreciate it), but in my advanced age?...that's just too much to keep track of...(although mentioning in your comment that i look really young for my age warrants you an extra entry...double if you can do so with a straight face)...so...:

...just comment on THIS post sometime before tomorrow's post (make sure i can contact you!) and you will be entered in today's giveaway drawing...and so on and so on for the rest of the week...comment on tuesday's giveaway post sometime before wednesday's post, wednesday's giveaway post sometime before thursday's post, thursday's giveaway post sometime before friday's post and friday's giveaway post sometime before saturday morning's post in which i will thank you all profusely for joining me in my birthday celebration......i will announce all (5) winners on monday, january 12...

...thank you again for a wonderful year...really!......

Happy, Happy Birthday! And my you do look mighty young. My hubby just celebrated his 45th last year and he looks mighty young so you look even younger. You have to understand that I am going by the fact that I also think I look younger than my hubby... women just in general look younger. Anyway, enough rambling, I hope you get tons of cyber birthday wishes today!! Wishing you many more and lots more posts. I am glad you started a blog as well. It has been wonderful getting to know you and your mom! You are both great people. Oh and we can't forget Mr. Paisley. By the way, Stephanie is wonderful and her pillowcases are great, anyone would be happy to have them especially me.... LOL!

Happy birthday to you! I'd be totally excited to have that sweet elephant pillowcase for my daughter. Okay, she's only 2, but I'd save it until she was old enough for a real pillow. ;-)

Happy Birthday. I don't mind aging a bit, and I'm a bit older than you. I figure I earned every gray hair, every wrinkle, every ache and pain that comes with it. My well worn body is the product of a well-lived life!!

Wishing you a great day and many blessings in the year to come.

Terri too...

As one who will be 45 for four more months, I can assert that it's not that bad. :)

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to you!!! I understand the confusion about time zones across the world. My family is all in NZ and Australia, and I once called my family in NZ only to wake them up at 3am. Oops! My poor family thought something dreadful had happened!

One good thing about it though is that I really do have 2 birthdays! My NZ birthday, which really is the correct one, and then my US birthday the next day, which is when I celebrate it.

Can't wait to see your posts this week!

I love this idea. Your picture is so cute. I can see where the grandkids get it! They look so much like you when you were little. Isn't that amazing.

Happy Birthday this week. Fun fun. What a sweet post. We are all very real.

Happy Birthday! I love the baby picture!

I'm 45 but when someone asks me my age I always say that I'm twenty fiv...I mean 45. I guess I still feel like I'm 25!

I agree with you that people in blogland are real friends.

Have a fun week celebrating your birthday!

Happy birthday!
I can't think of the friendships I've made in blogland as anything but real! I really don't think whoever said they aren't real had any idea of the crafters' ability to connect with one another, whether in person or electronically.

happy birthday terri!!!
the good news about timezones:
you may be 45 already in your timezone, but people in hawaii will still think you are 44.
hahahaha.

What a wonderful idea.....a Birthday Week instead of just a Birthday. I had to laugh at your second to last paragraph, with the lined out section. I thought, gee if she's doing this at 45......I'd be doing way worse (since I ahead of you by about 10 years). The elephants are just wonderful, but the sign, now the sign is something everyone should have hanging around the sewing room. Thanks for the wonderful Birthday week giveaway. I wish you many many more. Rae Ann

You're going to be 45 ? Seem's like only yesterday you were that little girl in the picture. Happy Anniversary on your awesome blog ! If you draw my name for this prize, please draw another as I don't need a "You Sew Girl" sign (though I think it's really cool) !

Happy Happy Birthday, Terry,
I hope you have a great week- what a fun idea for a blog anniversary-
It is wonderful to meet other quilters through the internet and I, too, feel like I have made friends around the globe that share a passion for quilting.
I will try and return tomorrow to see what you are up to on your post.
Hugs,
Anna

Happy 45th and blogaversary. Love Stephanie's pillowcase. I fill my steam iron from a pink elephant watering can.

As for blog friends, of course they are real. Last I checked I hadn't been made obsolete by a robot

I love the elephant pillowcases, I'm from Alabama so i like elephants and I totally get the sign. YES!! YOU SEW GIRL!!! Great Motto. I hope you draw my name. Looking forward to being your friend.
Thanks LaLisha(Gunnymom)
